Why do men want kids?

I have been *unlucky* to date only men who have a strong desire to procreate, while I have none. I would like to know why men want kids. One of the reasons i've heard is that kids make a man more responsible (I was told this by a 16 year old!) Guys, enlighten me.

Well its true that kids do come with a high degree of responsibility. And its for the same reason that you dont have them until you are both happy to go ahead with it. So basically if you are just dating a guy and he wants you to carry his babie right away, you have to be carefull cause if the guy does decide he doesnt want to marry you and help you raise the kid, then you will be stuck bringing up the kid, and yet it was not your idea in the first place hence you are left with the burden of responsibility on your own. If you are not ready for a kid, dont conceive my dear

Its only natural for a man to ask the woman he loves to bare him children. When a man matures, thats the point at which he realize that he can handle responsibilities of being a father.

On the other hand, we would like to have children with the women we love so as to ensure that the stay with us. If a woman has a mans child the mans heart rests assured that she won't decide to up and go one day and leave him alone. It is a sign that a woman is committed to be with the man.

So, does this mean that having a child is basically security for a man? And another question: I have mentioned to some close male friends of mine that I do not intend to have kids. They were either shocked, or believed that I'll change my mind. Is it so hard to believe that a woman doesn't want kids in this day and age? Or is it a Kenyan guy thing?

WTF??? Since when did a 16 year old boy represent the views of a man? You are seriously tripping and need some new advisers in your camp. About men wanting kids...you must be dating boys...no man will talk about kids when he meets a woman so once more stop dating boys. Meet a real man, talk real stuff and if both of you love each other then thats the time to talk about the future. Good day...i am married and still i don't talk about kids.

Joe, I don't date boys. Never did. I have met some really great, admirable, grown-up guys, but their "passion for procreation" does come through very strongly from the get-go.
