If u remember, Prof Nyong'o is a beneficiary of direct nomination. They want to cut magara to size coz of his closeness with Ruto. The less footsoldiers ruto has, the better.

Magaras case is different. The 2007 loosers have ganged against direct nomination. I think Raila and Ruto are both held hostage with the electorate dire in need of a fresh man.

The demand for party elections is overwhelming and direct nomination of Magara is a time bomb neither Raila nor Ruto can bare.
